SHOUT meets the last Thursday of the
month at various locations at 6:30 pm. Check the calendar or events
page for specific locations
and times. Sometimes we also hold special events such as family
get-togethers on different days. Our meetings are positive forums
for sharing our experiences and networking with other survivors. We
also occassionally have guest speakers to address survivorship issues
near and dear to our hearts, like sexuality and nutrition!
As a group, our primary focus is supporting our members in active
treatment. To meet that need, we try to pair someone
just starting treatment with another survivor who's been through it
all. We are also developing outreach
programs to help our young
women with their daily needs while they are going through treatment. |
| |
| As mentioned above, we are developing outreach
programs to take care of our women in treatment. As we
grow, we also need motivated people to help us increase awareness of
women's health issues
through
community
education at college campuses. |
| |
| SHOUT is not connected with any particular medical
facility in the OKC, but we have numerous affiliates who offer their
services as medical experts and guest speakers. Cancer clinics across
the community are especially important in getting the word out to survivors
and those in treatment. If you are a provider, care
coordinator, social worker, etc. who would like to partner with
us in this effort, please contact
us so
we can keep you updated on our events and plans. |
| |
SHOUT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Donations help us meet our administrative needs and most importantly
provide
support and morale initiatives for our women in treatment. As we grow,
funds will also enable us to
take our
vision one step
further
and
publish
educational
materials
to increase awareness of breast cancer and women's health issues
for the younger
population.
We
appreciate any one-time donations and offers for sponsorship.
We currently have fiscal sponsorship fund through the Communities
Foundation of Oklahoma. Tax-exempt donations can be made
to SHOUT by designating fund #417 for your gift. |
